Clapton boss Jonny Fowell admits Ilford will an unknown when the two sides meet this evening.

The Tons welcome the new-look Foxes to the Old Spotted Dog (7.45pm) as they look to make it back-to-back wins to start the Essex Senior League season.

Although, boss Fowell says he doesn’t know to expect from newly-appointed manager Martin Haywood’s side, but knows if they play their game they should come out on top.

“They’re a bit unknown now as I think they’re pretty much Waltham Abbey Reserves,” Fowell said.

“I don’t worry about the opposition, I never have done, I just worry about my team and I know if we play our football like we did today (Saturday) I think we should get the win.

“We’ve got a good squad now and that’s what we want.”

He did however say that he expects this season to be a tough challenge as they look to be the dark horses in a promotion push.

“This season is going to be a really tough season, there is a lot of good teams in this league, but I’m not fussed we’ll just worry about our team and let the other teams worry about us.”
