Clapton edged a 3-2 victory against nine-men Enfield at the Old Spotted Dog last night.

The Tons moved up to 11th in the Essex Senior League after three first-half goals was enough to see them over the line despite a late fightback from the visitors.

The hosts got off to a strong and found themselves in front after 20 minutes when Johnny Ashman picked out the back of the net to give his side a 1-0 lead.

Eleven minutes later it was another winger getting on the score sheet this time Jeffrey Cobblah who made it 2-0.

Centre-back Dylan Ebengo then extended it to a 3-0 lead for Clapton after 40 minutes to take them into the break.

Enfield came out looking for a way back into the clash in the second-half and eventually found it in the 70th minute when Luke Thomas made it 3-1.

Five minutes later the visitors Ryan Cosson clawed another one back for his side, but it wasn’t enough.
