Clapton’s winless run in the Essex Senior League has reached three games following a goalless draw at home to St Margaretsbury.

The league match had been switched to Aveley’s Parkside to allow a new strip of grass to bed in at their Old Spotted Dog Home.

Tons had also had their previous game switched to Parkside, beating Enfield 1-0 in the Errington Challenge Cup on Saturday.

Jonny Fowell’s men had hoped to grab a second win in all competitions at Parkside, but found it tough to break down a resolute St Margaretsbury team as players on both sides tried to come to terms with the artificial pitch.

As it was, both sides earned a share of the spoils, with chances going begging at either end, but a draw was probably a fair result and Clapton remain without a league win since beating struggling Leyton Athletic 4-2 on October 10.

Tons also finished the game with 10 men after having a player sent off for two bookable offences.

Fowell’s men were due to play host to Walthamstow on Saturday, but that match has been postponed.

And Tuesday’s scheduled fixture against Takeley has been switched to their ground at Station Road.
