Essex Senior League: London Bari 3 Newham 2

London Bari claimed bragging rights over Newham in the Essex Senior League last night (Wednesday).

Both clubs went into the clash at the Old Spotted Dog desperate for points, especially the visitors.

Shamrez Darr’s men were four points adrift of Waltham Forest at the bottom of the table before the game.

And they had suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to Tower Hamlets on Saturday where as Bari defeated Stansted 3-2.

Chris Davis’ men won the previous meeting 2-0 on November 11, but at half time of this clash it was level at 1-1.

But after the restart it was the hosts that pushed forward and eventually run out 3-2 winners.

The victory sees Bari remain ninth in the table, but they are only three points behind rivals Clapton having played two less matches.

Davis’ team still have 10 more league fixtures to play before the end of the campaign.

It was another frustrating day for Newham, however, who fell to a fifth reverse from their last six games.

Darr’s men make the trip to Burnham Ramblers this weekend while Bari entertain Sawbridgeworth Town.

After that the Old Spotted Dog outfit make the trip to Coles Park to face Greenhouse Sports on Monday night.
