Essex Primary School had something to celebrate after winning the Langdon Academy Sport Partnership Year One & Two hot potato competition.

Essex were one of 10 primary schools to take part in the event, along with Avenue, Cleveland, Elmhurst, Langdon, Nelson, St Antony’s, St Edward’s, St Francis’ and St Joachim’s.

The initial group stage saw them teams split into three pools, two of which contained three schools and one with four.

The top two in each group plus the two third-placed teams with the best records, progressed to the quarter-finals.

In the last eight, Essex beat Nelson 2-0; Langdon overcame Elmhust 2-0; St Francis’ defeated St Joachim’s 2-0; and St Antony’s recorded a 2-0 win over St Edward’s.

The semi-finals saw Essex triumph 2-0 over Langdon, while St Antony’s were 2-0 victors against St Francis’.

Essex beat St Antony’s 2-0 in the final, while St Francis’ came third after a 2-0 success against Langdon.
