Newham boxer John Dignum made an excellent start to his professional career

The York Hall show on Friday proved a winning night for two debut boys on the undercard as John Dignum (above) and Charlie Hoy clinched clear points wins over seasoned rivals.

The points victory over tough Midlander Ryan Clark launched a new career and a vital year for Dignum and twin brother Danny, the talented duo who enjoyed multi-title success in their days at at the local Newham club.

Still campaigning as an amateur Danny has his sights set on a memorable double as he chases the ABA middleweight title that John claimed last year.

Dignum showed his class against Clark, taking a few solid shots but firing back and landing more powerful punches on his way to a clear 40-36 victory for the fighter, trained by Jason Rowland.

Bantamweight Hoy, who reached the the ABA finals in Repton colours last season, overcame 145-fight veteran Delroy Spencer, also winning all four rounds on the official scorecard.

Hoy, trained by Jimmy and Mark Tibbs at the TKO gym, found the target with damaging left hooks.
