The Dignum brothers were developed through the local boxing scene at Newham BC, achieving a record-breaking double winning the ABA middleweight title in successive years before going their separate ways – Danny staying amateur and John turning pro.

Danny, last year’s ABA title winner, is aiming for the Commonwealth Games next year after being called into the GB elite squad to replace Anthony Ogogo, the Olympic bronze medallist who has turned pro with US promotions group Golden Boy.

John, the 2011 champion, is aiming for success in his fourth pro fight at York Hall, Bethnal Green, tomorrow (Thursday) against Midlander Kieron Gray on Frank Warren’s bill, which is headed by Billy Joe Saunders’ British and Commonwealth title defence against Manchester’s Matthew Hall.

Billy Joe, based at east London’s TKO Gym, is unbeaten in 16 bouts and knows he must win again to move his career forward, as he makes his first appearance of 2013 alongside other TKO prospects.

Local lightweight stylist Billy Morgan goes for his eighth straight pro victory, while middleweight Tom Baker looks to make it four pro wins, in their bouts on the undercard at York Hall.
