Newham College’s dream season continued as they won both competitions at the Association of Colleges’ indoor cricket regional finals.

Having wrapped up the league title two weeks ago Newham sent two sides to take part in the event at NewVic College that attracted sides from across London.

The firsts had been runners-up in the competition last year but put that disappointment behind them to go one better this time around.

Meanwhile the seconds were also triumphant with both sides now representing London at the national finals in Birmingham next month.

It is the first time that two teams from the same college will be in action in the finals and the Newham youngsters cannot wait to test themselves against the best in the country.

Team manager Zaheer Daleel was delighted his team avoided complacency and added two more trophies to their ever-increasing cabinet.

“To keep up momentum, to stay at the top of their game, to stay motivated to improve and achieve despite recent success and plaudits, this is true testament to my players and the spirit they have,” he said.
