Cricket: Newham CC gearing up for new season

Newham Cricket Club is gearing up for its 10th season after a successful 2017 campaign.
The club will field three adult sides on Saturday and one on Sunday, as well as youth teams at under-nine, 11, 13, 15, 16 and 19 levels.
The men’s first team were runners-up in the Essex County League Premier Division last year, while the under-16s won the matchplay tournament and all colts teams reached quarter-finals.
A new second grass square at Flanders Field played immaculately and the main square now has its own electronic scoreboard.
New facilities include gazebos and benches for teams and spectators and a dedicated scorer’s hut.
Net sessions and fielding training at Flanders take place on Tuesdays from 5pm for colts up to 15 and Thursdays from 6pm for older colts and adults.
This year the colts section will be undergoing a new fitness regime to complement their cricketing skills. For more visit newhamcc.com and follow NewhamCricket on Facebook.
