Robert Cooper’s talented Year Five and Six pupils show skill in tennis tournament

Calverton Primary enjoyed success recently in a Year Five/Six tennis tournament in association with Cumberland Sports Partnership.

18 teams took part in the competition with Calverton entering two teams, an A side and a B team.

Both won their respective groups, which put them through to the semi-final stage of the event.

Calverton A defeated Curwen 4-0 in the last four before Calverton B beat Kaizen by the same score.

It meant the two Calverton teams faced each other in the final and the A side won 3-1 to take the title.

Calverton A now progress to the next qualifying stage, which will be an event put on by Langdon Academy Sport Partnership.

If Calverton were to win that event, it would see them represent Newham in the London Youth Games.

Calverton’s Year Three/Four team achieved just that last week and the Year Five/Six side will aim to follow in their footsteps soon.
