WEST HAM BOXING club’s array of champions looked back on a successful season with their smiles and the silverware on parade on Saturday night at the Granwell Community Centre. Whitwell Road, Plaistow.

With the new season underway in just a few days, the Hammers had plenty to celebrate after taking honours in amateur competitions from the National schoolboys championships to the senior ABA title race earlier this year.

Meanwhile the show goes on with the Plaisdtow-based club staging their first show of the season at East Ham Working Mens’ Club, Boleyn Road, East Ham on Friday October 15.

Secretary Lianne Jameson is arranging the bill in her new role as club competition secretary alongside Mickey Driscoll.

They are aiming for a bright start with members of the talented squad based at Plaistow’s Black Lion gym, facing opposition from leading London and Home Counties Boxing squads.

However the season has an earlier start for boxers entering the Boys Clubs NACYP tournament.

The London boys club contests - always known as the ‘Feds’ get underway at the Five Star Youth Club Harold Hill, Romford on October 2, with West Ham Newham and Fairbairn boxers involved in the race for honours.
