Bernie Ecclestone cool on Formula 1 Olympic Stadium link

PUBLISHED: 12:00 20 August 2012

Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone appears to have poured cold water on the possibility of staging races at the Olympic Stadium.

The consortium Intelligent Transport Services, in association with F1, is one of four parties in the running to take over the Stratford venue after the Games.

West Ham United FC, thought to be the favourites, Leyton Orient FC, and the UCFB College of Football Business have also tabled bids.

But Mr Ecclestone was cool on the F1 bid when on a tour of the Olympic Park’s International Broadcast Centre, according to Olympics news website insidethegames.

“I’d rather (have a race) where we originally planned in central London... it’s project we are going to try to make happen,” he said.

The bids will be assessed by the London Legacy Development Corporation before a decision is announced this autumn.
