Burnley midfielder Marvin Bartley joins the O’s on short-term loan deal.

Leyton Orient have signed Marvin Bartley on a month’s loan from Championship side Burnley.

The O’s have been looking to bolster their midfield and have landed Bartley on an initial 28-day deal with a view to an extension.

Bartley has made 72 appearances for Burnley over the last two and half years after making a £350,000 switch from Bournemouth in 2011.

And O’s boss Russell Slade is pleased to welcome him on board ahead of the club’s opening League One fixture at Carlisle on Saturday.

Slade said: “Marvin has been on our radar for some time.

“Unfortunately he got injured during pre-season and he’s only been back this last week, so we’ve been waiting all this time to ensure that he’s over that injury and he’s ready to come out on loan.

“When he’s fit and he’s firing on all cylinders he’s got bundle of energy, is a really good athlete who can get up and down and travels well with the ball and breaks the play up – he’s very strong.”

Bartley becomes Orient’s second new recruit of the day following the signing of Northern Irish winger Johnny Gorman on a year’s contract.
