Newham and Essex Beagles bring home medals

Newham & Essex Beagles Athletics Club had a successful weekend at the Essex Championships, with their rising stars landing five gold medals, two silver and three bronze in Chelmsford this weekend.

Matthew Baptiste brought home two golds for his efforts in the senior discus and shot putt, while Mayowa Osunsami was also another double winner, picking up two golds in the under-20 men’s 100 metres and the 110m hurdles.

Zoe Thompson also landed a gold for Beagles in the under-20 women’s 200m sprint.

Emmanuel Sosanya beat his personal best with a time of 48.62 to land a silver medal in the under-20 men’s 400m event.

And the under-17 men’s 100m final saw two of the club’s runners make it on to the podium, with William Adeyeye and Rotimi Osunsami claiming silver and bronze, after recording impressive times of 13.57 and 14.22.

Rounding off the Beagles success story was Jasmine Okoye, who picked up two bronze medals in the under-20 women’s 100m and 200m finals.
