London Youth Games: St Edward’s seal sportshall finals spot

Newham pupils book trip to Crystal Palace
Newham’s St Edward’s School have qualified for the London Youth Games sportshall athletics finals for year five and six pupils at Crystal Palace later this month.
They competed against seven other schools from across east London in the qualifying event at the Copper Box Arena and finished in third place behind Barking & Dagenham’s Monteagle and Havering’s Ardleigh Green.
Their girls scored 152 points from their track and field events, the second highest score on the day, and the boys contributed 142 points for a grand total of 294.
Monteagle topped the pile with 328, while Ardleigh Green scored 302.
Other schools taking part included Lewisham’s Erindishe Green (220), Redbridge’s Aldersbrook (188), Greenwich’s St Thomas A Beckett (176), Bexley’s Hillgrove (138) and Tower Hamlets’ St Mary & St Michael’s (102).
The finals are at Crystal Palace on March 22.
