Newham youngsters combined to win two gold medals and one silver at the London Youth Games sportshall athletics finals.

Langdon Academy came out on top in the year seven boys’ competition, ahead of Westminster’s St Georges’ after finishing with a total of 237 points.

Youngsters competed in track events such as obstacle relay, two-lap race, four-lap race, eight-lap race, eight-lap paarlauf and 4x2-lap relay, as well as field events such as shot put, speed bounce, standing long and triple jump and vertical jump, with Havering’s Coopers Coborn taking bronze.

And St Edward’s added a second gold for Newham in the year five/six competition, after finishing with 432 points above Havering’s Ardleigh Green (374) and Barking & Dagenham’s Monteagle (358).

Langdon Academy’s year seven girls added silver medals, after finishing just four points behind Havering’s Coopers Coborn in their hard-fought competition.
