Beagles’ discus thrower Buhari announces retirement

Olympic discus thrower Abdul Buhari has announced his retirement from athletics.
The 31-year-old, who competed for Newham and Essex Beagles, represented Britain at the 2012 London Olympics.
Buhari, who was born in Nigeria, threw 60.08 in the Games and failed to make the final, coming 29th overall in qualifying.
He has a personal best of 65.44.
Buhari said: “I have decided to retire from athletics. This has not been an easy decision however l feel it is the right one for me.
“I would like to thank Newham for supporting me throughout my career. My journey would not have been as fun and successful without the help and support.
“This is the end of an era but the beginning of the next chapter which I am very much looking forward to. I will continue my involvement with athletics in some form in the future.”
