British light-welterweight champion Ashley Theophane is back at Wembley for his first title defence against Welshman Jason Cook on July 23.

He is due to meet former European title-holder Cook from Maesteg at the venue where he took the British belt from Lenny Daws, with a unanimous points verdict in February.

The fight will appear on the Hennessy Sports show headed by the eagerly-awaited heavyweight showdown between Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury.

The 30-year-old TKO gym trained Theophane is a regular globetrotter who has built his career with wins in Britain, the USA and Germany.

Now he aims to cash in on his title success with the prospect of a money-spinning defence against former world amateur champion Frank Gavin, unbeaten as a pro.

Ever-confident Ashley has no doubts about his first defence: “I will be ready – Cook will not take my title.”
