Clapton Community and Hutton closed to within three points of top spot in Thurlow Nunn League Division One South with wins on Wednesday night.

And Clapton and Enfield Borough were also celebrating at the other end of the table after impressive victories of their own.

Meanwhile, Essex Senior League outfit Sporting Bengal United claimed a 3-1 win over a young AFC Wimbledon side in the London Senior Cup at Mile End Stadium thanks to a hat-trick from Sheri Artmeladze.

Clapton Community made the short trip to Cricklefields to take on Barkingside and took the lead with a fine free-kick from James Briggs.

The hosts had an effort ruled out for offside before half-time, then put a good chance wide after the restart.

But Barkingside did draw level, before Noah Adejokun headed wide from Fred Taylor's cross for the visitors.

Adejokun turned provider for the last-minute winner, though, as his cross was headed in by Terry Amoafo.

That made it six wins in a row for Clapton Community, who climbed to second place ahead of Hutton on goal difference.

Hutton ran out 5-1 winners over Newbury Forest at Billericay Town's New Lodge ground, which made it back-to-back victories after a 3-2 success at Southend Manor on Saturday.

And Clapton climbed out of last place with a 3-1 triumph over NW London at Newham Leisure Centre.

After five successive away fixtures, Clapton made a fast start back on their own turf and took a 17th-minute lead through 16-year-old Jordan Adeoye.

Raheem Fernandes doubled their advantage early in the second half, with Conor Russell heading home a third on 69 minutes.

The visitors grabbed a consolation, but Clapton claimed all three points to leapfrog Park View, after they were beaten 3-0 at home by an Enfield Borough side who climbed out of the relegation zone as a result.
