*Swimming in the Lee Valley, where some lakes are old gravel extraction pits, is particularly dangerous and against byelaws. Swimming in unsupervised open water can lead to difficulties for even the most experienced swimmers.

Old submerged machinery and cables and unexpected currents can catch out swimmers, while extremely cold areas of water can result in cold water shock and shallow waters and poor water quality can lead to serious illness. Please do not enter the water in Lee Valley.
