Richard House Children’s Hospice was full of dancing queens (and kings) throughout the summer holidays.

Youngsters who are part of the hospice’s sibling group have taken part in a dance project with Rambert, Britain’s national dance company.

The five day project, entitled Dance is Me, allowed the children to be creative and express what dance means to them.

It is part of a larger collaboration between the dance company and the Beckton hospice, with Rambert providing a number of opportunities for families to create fun, exciting memories.

Lance Balynas was one of the children to take part.

He said: “I really enjoyed it and would do it again in a heartbeat.

“Dance is a way of expressing my feelings.”

The sibling group provides activities for the brothers and sisters of children who use the hospice.

It allows them to talk to other children in the same situation while having fun.

Play services activity co-ordinator Rachel Flower said: “All the siblings have really enjoyed the whole project.

“What they learnt through a project like this can have a truly lasting positive impact on them.”

The project, provided free to families, was supported by The Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts.
