DOUBLE MOBO award winner, saxophonist YolanDa Brown has been awarded an honorary Doctorate of Arts by UEL.

The leading jazz musician received her prize along with human rights campaigner Bianca Jagger and Time Out editor Mark Frith at the Barbican this month.

YolanDa said: “I feel extremely humbled to receive this doctorate and I am keen to work closely with UEL.”

The critically acclaimed artist from Barking has been named twice as the MOBO Best Jazz artist and has performed at the London Jazz Festival as well as for for President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev.

Her eagerly anticipated debut album is due for release next year.
