With the countdown to Christmas now officially started, it’s time for another festive lights switch-on.

Stratford Shopping Centre has snapped up X Factor finalist Sam Lavery for its show on Saturday, which runs from 4pm to 7pm in Central Square, High Street.

The singer will be joined by Essex boyband Franklin Lake who will be performing their new song Glad We Met.

Tony Whitehorn, centre manager, said: “Our switch-on event was extremely popular last year and I want to make this Christmas switch-on even bigger and better.

“It’s going to be a great day out that will get you into the Christmas spirit with all of the family.”

Also back by huge demand is Santa’s Post Box, a campaign where children can post their Christmas wish list to the North Pole – in the centre’s South Mall – and receive a reply from the big man himself.

Elsewhere, family entertainment will be provided in the form of storm troopers from the Star Wars and the shopping centre’s mascot Makena.
