Worshippers have been leading women-only prayer sessions at Shri Guru Ravidass Ji Gurdwara Sahib.

The temple in Caryle Road, Manor Park, hosts Satsang sessions every Tuesday from 10.30am to 1pm which invite women to explore their spirituality.

On Tuesday last week, women gathered in prayer to God and received langar, a name given to the Sikh custom of handing out free food to visitors of Gurdwaras.

Usha Sadhev, 70, who helped coordinate last week’s gathering, said she was inspired to volunteer after being a guest at a previous session.

“I got an invitation from a friend and I came they served me langar,” she said. “It came into my mind that I would like to do something like that so I went back and helped cook the langar.”
