Police are appealing for information after a woman was dragged from a park bench and raped in East Ham on Saturday night.

The victim, in her 30s, was sat down in the southern end of Barking Road Recreation Ground when she was approached by an unknown man between 11pm and midnight.

The man grabbed the woman and dragged her further into the park where he raped and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene.

The attack was reported to police in the early hours of Sunday, August 28, after the woman went to hospital.

The suspect is described as a medium-built white man in his late 30s, 5ft 8ins with brown, spiky hair.

He was wearing a dark T-shirt and three-quarter length jogging bottoms.
