Win cash by taking part in Newham young mayor’s big debate

Youngsters can put their debating skills to the test during the Easter holidays to win a share of £250.

The Young Mayor’s Big Debate programme is open to

people aged between 11 and 18 years old who work, study or live in the borough.

Workshops from Debate Mate will teach attendees how to form and structure complex arguments as well as rebut opponent’s points.

There will be three rounds held within the workshops, followed by a grand final where the winner will be crowned.

Newham’s young mayor, Jonathan Bennett. said: “My manifesto promise was about ensuring that young people have access to worthwhile opportunities that can support them to further themselves.

“I believe this is such an opportunity and it that will give young people the chance to learn lifelong skills that will benefit them in higher education and or work.”
