Reg Gray, 59, Mortama Road, East Ham: “I do like the parks as they are absolutely brilliant the way they are looked after. We have got great facilities as we have got the parks and a good library that has everything you want. I mean I’ve lived here all my life so I must like it here.”

Lily Kumar, 60, High Street South, East Ham: “I have lived in East Ham 21 years and it’s got way better. We have got good multi-culture with about 149 different languages where everyone is friendly and understanding. I love this road as has a great mixture and is like our own little town.”

John Thomas, 42, Locksford Avenue, East Ham: “I like the friendliness of the people and the mixture and diversity amongst them. Central Park is a real nice park same as the Olympic Park as they are both really well kept. The area also has a good mixture of places to eat.”

Alex Vazil, 45, High Street South, East Ham: “I like the park most but like the buses as they are very good for getting around. We also have good shops and can get most things you need just walking down the road. What I like best is how quiet it is and how friendly the people are round here. Also, the leisure centre is great.”

Rhonda Bongombe, 35, Rancliffe Road, East Ham: “It is great that we get a monthly magazine so we know what is happening in the community. My favourite is Central Park, as it is on my door step, plus the mayor’s show is a really nice way of bringing people together.”

Christine Fogarty, 44, Works as a Health Visitor in East Ham: “Because of my job, I normally see the worst parts of East Ham, but the people are genuinely great. Helping these sort of people make smart choices for their children is amazing and I think Newham is a place where this can really work well.”
