Ready for another summer of sport? Well this time, you’ll be taking the centre stage.

Throughout August, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will see a host of free sports and fun parades play out among its famous venues.

After the Great British Carnival kick started the party at the weekend, see below for a list of upcoming events.

August 2 to 10 – The Poetry Shed, featuring Kat Francois and poet-in-residence supported by London’s young poet laureate. There will be a chance for people of all ages to drop in and create their own poems.

August 4 to 24 – The Active People, Active Park programme gets into full swing. If you’re a resident in any of the Olympic Park’s surrounding boroughs there is a variety of free sporty activities open to you from street cricket to yoga.

August 4 to 22 – Kids aged three to 12 can get fit at summer holiday activity camps throughout the month. Sessions run Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Extended days are also available. Each session costs £10 or £15 for an extended day.

August 10 – The Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 will get underway from 6am. Up to 24,000 riders will circuit through the Olympic Park and out into the Surrey hills before returning to the finish line along The Mall.

August 13 –The GB senior men’s basketball team will take on Bosnia and Herzegovina in the qualifying stages for EuroBasket 2015. Ut will be the first home qualifying game for the British team.

August 15 – The Coca-Cola Multi-Sport Festival will be bringing street games to the Copper Box Arena. Young people will be able to try out more than twenty five taster sport sessions for free and even get the chance to meet some celebrity sports stars.

August 16 – Families and friends are invited to bring a picnic to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for this free community event aimed at bringing residents from surrounding neighbourhoods together.

There will be arts, crafts, storytelling, treasure hunts, cookery demonstrations, music and magic shows.

August 20 – The GB senior men’s basketball team are back in action and this time they’re taking on Iceland in their second EuroBasket 2015 home qualifying game.

August 30 – One of the biggest events of the year, the National Paralympic Day will recapture the joy of the Games with Team GB medallists taking to the water in the London Aquatics Centre in the first international swimming competition at the iconic venue since London 2012. Tickets cost just £5 per person.

A number of sports from wheelchair basketball, cycling, tennis and boccia will also take place across the rest of the park alongside the Mayor of London’s Liberty Festival showcasing the best deaf and disabled performance artists.
