A retiring army officer of the Territorial Army chose to visit youngsters in the Army Cadets for his last official engagement.
Local mechanic Serjeant Scott Fraser, 22, a former West Ham Army Cadet who now works as an Adult Instructor and Detachment Commander, showed Major General Greg Smith around the unit and took him to meet eight teenage recruits from Newham.
General Greg completed the Annual Inspection and signed the Unit off with flying colours.
He said, “Well done to all of you here tonight, you are a credit to the Army Cadet Force.”
