Our West Ham columnist Tony Cottee looks forward to Everton clash
All right, we know that Saturday was not a great performance and not a great result, but I think we should really concentrate on the positives.
It was another point towards safety. That makes if 37 and puts us nine points clear of the relegation zone.
That would normally be enough points to stay up, but I would like to see us push on and get ourselves in the top 10.
If we consider the Sunderland game, I think it is safe to say that we gifted them both goals and that has been a serious problem we have faced all season.
I am sure that Darren Randolph will be holding his hands up over both goals.
For me he is still our number one and he did make a couple of other saves during the match.
I would stick with him, although if we were to bring in someone like Joe Hart during the summer then I don’t think too many fans would be against it.
Apparently West Ham have not won a Premier League game without Mark Noble in ages and I think it shows just how much we miss his influence on the pitch.
We will be without him again on Saturday and also without the suspended Sam Byram which will give us a real selection problem when Everton come to the London Stadium.
Romelu Lukaku must be licking his lips at the prospect of playing West Ham this weekend. It is funny how some players seem to have favourite teams to play against. I always seemed to score against Coventry City, Ipswich and I did well against Spurs and Arsenal too.
Lukaku likes scoring against us and I think he has managed to score in nine successive games against us which is an incredible run.
Everton are in good form and we need to set up really well against them, be it with three centre-backs or maybe moving Cheikhou Kouyate to right-back.
Whatever we do it is going to be a very difficult game, but my old team do let in goals as well as score them, so I will go for a 1-1 draw.
When we are finally safe, it will be a chance for Slaven to look forward to next season.
I think we have to admit that most of the players we brought in last summer have not worked out and have not been good enough.
We need to remove the deadwood, but at the same time add to the starting line-up with two top players and improve the overall squad.
We need to start working on that right now. COYI!
