A number of fake calls have been made to residents claiming to be from Newham Council.

The calls, which the council are aware of, are asking people to provide their bank account details for a council tax refund.

The council has said it never calls and asks for bank details to issue a refund for any reason.

If anyone believes they have received a fake call, they can contact the council by calling 020 8430 2000 to check.
