A celebration of East Ham’s multi-cultural community was held at Vicarage Primary School last Thursday.
The sound of African drumming welcomed guests to the annual One World/Our World event in the school’s sports halls, which were decorated with flags from around the world.
The event showcased food, art and entertainment from different cultures and included a performance from each year group, followed by dancing by staff.
Other attractions included a spice-smelling competition run by Newham College, healthy cooking demonstrations by Jamie’s Ministry of Food and storytelling workshops by the creative team from the Discover Children’s Story Centre in Stratford.
Rev Quintin Peppiatt, chair of the school governors, said: “This is a wonderful occasion to celebrate the richness and diversity of cultures within our school community at Vicarage that make our school so successful, welcoming and vibrant.”
