Two fire crews tackled a blaze which broke out in a terraced house in Vicarage Lane in the early hours of this morning.
The heat of the flames burned a hole in the ground floor ceiling of the house off High Street South.
About 10 firefighters and two fire engines from East Ham and Barking were called to the scene at 4.30am, returning to the fire station about two hours later.
No-one was in the house at the time of the incident.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
