Vandals started a fire in East Ham’s Central Park in east London during the night.
They set light to a park bench and compost storage bin near the park bowls club just before midnight.
The alarm was raised by a passer-by when smoke swept across Rancliffe Road, off High Street South. The blaze, which was tackled by a crew from East Ham fire-station, had been deliberate, the fire brigade said.
