Charity walkers for a Beckton hospice were given an energy boost thanks to food donations from Queen’s Market traders.

On Sunday May 13, around 150 fundraisers took part in a 12 Bridge Walk, in aid of Richard House Children’s Hospice, walking from World’s End in Chelsea to the Gouman Hotel in St Katherine’s Dock by Tower Bridge.

Situated at Richard House Drive, the children’s hospice is the oldest in London and provides support to young ones and their families throught life-limiting conditions.

To help them raise as much as they could, stall holders and well wishers from Queen’s Market in Upton Park provided boxes of bananas, apples, and satsumas for goody bags.

Neil Stockwell, trader, said: “We’re always glad to help Richard House, they do an amazing job.”

Manjeet Boparai from Richard House collected the fruit boxes from Neil and Faiz Merchant at the market in Green Street, and the donation was arranged by Pauline Rowe, Friends of Queen’s Market secretary, and Roy Wayre, market development manager.
