UPDATE: London City flights still grounded by Iceland ash cloud

Flights from London City Airport to Scotland will remain suspended for the rest of today.

All services to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee have been cancelled since early this morning, when ash cloud from the Grimsvotn volcano in Iceland entered UK airspace.

British Airways urged customers not to travel to the Royal Docks airport if their flight had been cancelled.

Experts say the threat from the Icelandic eruption is not as serious as a similar event last year, which saw flights across Europe cancelled for several days.
