A brainy team of UEL students will get the chance to show off their intellectual prowess on national television.

The four person team were one of 28 selected for the 2016-17 series of University Challenge out of the 130 universities who applied.

The UEL quartet will be on BBC2 on Monday, October 10, when they take on the University of Glasgow in the last of the first round matches.

In order to make it to the televised rounds, hosted by Jeremy Paxman, the students had to pass a general knowledge test and interview at London’s South Bank Studios.

Of the 28 universities and colleges – five from Oxford and six from Cambridge – to make it to the first round, the UEL is the only post-1992 university to qualify.
