University of East London has been named the second best modern university in the capital, according to a national survey.
The university has received a ringing endorsement from its students after rising 10 places in the national Student Experience Survey league table.
The survey, which is run by the Times Higher Education Supplement, asked students across the UK to rate all aspects of their university experience – including academic teaching, facilities, extra-curricular activities, student welfare and accommodation.
Professor John J. Joughin, UEL vice-chancellor, said: “It is fantastic to receive such positive feedback from our students, which is testimony to the hard work of our academic and support staff.
“To score so highly for overall academic experience is particularly satisfying and recognises our efforts in delivering high-quality degree courses that equip our students for graduate-level employment or further study.
“Last year UEL was rated the fifth most improved university in the UK for student satisfaction, rising 37 places in the national league table, and this latest survey provides further proof that we are heading in the right direction.”
UEL was also ranked second among the capital’s modern universities for overall academic experience, student welfare, security, well-structured courses and dealing with personal requirements.
