The UK’s largest graduate art design and fashion show comes to The Old Truman Brewery this summer.

For seven weeks, art lovers can explore a free showcase of work by 3,000 up and coming faces in the industry called Free Range. There will also be courses and workshops to try.

Final year photographer Thomas Hofer is one of the students exhibiting his work.

His series of photos, titled Domesticated Landscapes, shows vivid scenes of Las Vegas suburbs juxtaposed with the untamed, barren desert.

The project was born from a road trip through the United States.

Thomas said: “We flew by helicopter to the Grand Canyon. I became quite intrigued by the landscape.

“I was amazed by suburban development on one side and how the other was just desert.

“I was intrigued by the shapes and the patterns of the allotments compared with the desert and was quite surprised to see visual references could be drawn from shapes that weren’t in geographical proximity – for example, the cracks in the pavement made by the sun.”

Thomas, who aims to provoke a dialogue with his work added: “I thought it would be quite nice to show my work in London.

“I’ve gotten very interesting and positive feedback, which I am quite happy about, and I think this piece is one of my most interesting ones to stand out and attract attention.”

Free Range runs from May 29 to July 14 at The Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane.

The fair has previously attracted more than 100,000 visitors, placing it alongside major international art and design fairs.
