How hard can it be to break a world record?
That was what a group of students at the University of East London aimed to find out when they attempted to set a new record for the most participants in a badminton rally.
Previously set at 123 people, organiser David Cowell aimed to get 150 people to the university’s SportsDock and take one shot each.
It was all in aid of a good cause, too, with each participant donating £2 to Sport Relief.
David said: “Unfortunately we weren’t able to generate the right amount of people to try to break the record, but as it was for Sport Relief we did the attempt a few times with music on in the background and everybody had great fun doing it.
“We ended up getting to 57 shots in our rally which ended with a massive round of applause.
“It was all great fun and we ended up raising over £200 for Sport Relief which is the most important thing.”
