Two women were taken to hospital after escaping a blaze in Silvertown.
Firefighters tackled the fire in a flat on Saville Road on Sunday afternoon. The fire damaged a large part of the ground floor flat.
The two women escaped before fire crews arrived and were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Four fire engines from Silvertown, Plaistow, Bow, and Barking fire stations were at the scene. The Brigade was called at 12.29pm and the fire was under control at 13.35pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
