At least two people were taken to hospital today after police reported a number of crashes in heavy rainfall.

One woman in her twenties was involved in a road traffic collision in Manor Road, Plaistow, shortly after 9am, and taken to Newham hospital.

A further patient taken was to Newham hospital at the same time, after emergency services attended a crash in Green Street, Upton Park.

Crews were also called to a collision at Charlemont Road and High Street South in Plaistow shortly before 9am. A man in his thirties was checked over by London Ambulance Service, but no one was taken to hospital.

Police in Newham have asked motorists to be extra cautious on the wet roads, after they attended at least five road traffic collisions this morning.

In a Tweet sent this morning, officers appealed to motorists to leave extra room between cars when driving.
