Two residents escaped from their houses while a dog was rescued by firefighters after a fire spread to three garden sheds yesterday.
A woman had got out of her house while a man was trying to put the fire out with a bucket of water when fire crews arrived at the incident in Frinton Road in East Ham.
Watch manager at East Ham fire station, Gary Norris, said: “We made an entrance through a house to the garden and stopped the man trying to put the fire out. A boxer dog was jumping around inside the house but it was alright once we got him out.
“The fire had spread to three garden sheds with garden furniture and a conservatory at the back of terraced houses due to the way heat transfers. But we stopped it from spreading to the houses.”
Firefighters from East Ham and Plaistow fire stations were called at about 12noon and the fire was under control within half an hour.
