Two men were rescued from a house fire in Canning Town yesterday.

Crews from Stratford and Poplar fire stations used a ladder and breathing apparatus to evacuate them from the Atkinson Road property.

Two other people left the house before the fire brigade arrived shortly after 10.30am.

Part of the ground floor was damaged by fire, which was believed to have started accidentally.

There were no reports of injuries to any of the occupants.
