Five people have been injured, including a man and a woman with “life-threatening” injuries, after a car crash this morning.

Police were called to Portway, Straftford, at 6am to reports of a crash between two cars.

A man and a woman were rushed to an east London hospital and three other people were treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service paramedics. Their injuries are unknown at this time.

A spokeswoman for the Met Police said officers “remain on the scene and the road is still closed. Motorists are advised to avoid the area”.

Diversions are currently in place for 104 and 238 bus routes.

@jazzsvirdi tweeted “Something big going down in #Portway, no traffic allowed from Plashet Road to Stratford Park.”

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
