The entire tube network will shut down tomorrow night after unions rejected London Underground’s latest offer.

The second stint of industrial action in just a month will see all four unions walk out from 6.30pm tomorrow tonight until Friday morning, despite previous claims that LU would back down before the strike.

Passengers will once again experience severe inconvenience, as extra bus services struggle to cater for commuters unable to take their normal routes to and from work on Wednesday evening and throughout Thursday.

On Friday, LU put forward a revised pay offer to Aslef, Unite, and RMT – though they said they were “unable” to increase the original amount offered as demanded by unions.

“After listening to the unions, we put forward an extremely fair revised offer, which addresses their concerns over work life balance and rewards our people for the hard work they do in keeping London working and growing,” said Steve Griffiths, LU chief operating officer.

“Despite this, the new offer has been rejected outright by the union leadership, again without consulting their members. We continue to urge them to put the new offer to their members and not subject Londoners to further unnecessary disruption. We remain available for talks at any time.”

Discussions over pay and working conditions with the start of the night tube in September has been the cause of an ongoing stand-off between London Underground and the unions.

A spokesman for Aslef said of the new deal: “They are a re-hash of previous plans and would continue along the course of smashing up long-standing agreements and destroying work-life balance.”
