Commuters are bracing themselves for travel chaos on the second morning of the 48-hour Tube strike.

Members of the RMT and TSSA unions have walked out in protest at the closure of ticket offices.

Talks with conciliation service Acas have been scheduled for tomorrow in an attempt to stop next week’s strike going ahead.

Yesterday, people using Stratford station during rush hour faced long delays after it was evacuated due to overcrowding, with thousands of commuters waiting on the concourse outside for news following an emergency announcement on the tannoy.

Statistics released by Transport for London last night showed almost 90 per cent of Oyster card users braved the Underground yesterday.
