Tesco is appealing for people from Newham to donate food in time for Christmas.

Where can you donate in Newham?

Donations are being received at:

Unit A, The Oxygen, 18 Western Gateway, Canning Town, E16 1BL

36-40 Barking Road, West Ham, E6 1PU

523 Barking Road, Plaistow, E13 9EZ

Upton Park Metro, 346 Green Street, Plaistow, E13 9AP

542 Romford Road, Forest Gate, E7 8AF

28 Woodgrange Road, Forest Gate, E7 0QH

120 Romford Road, Stratford, E15 4EH

Organised by food charities FareShare and The Trussell Trust, donations will go to foodbanks and community groups over the holidays.

There’ll be collection points at Tescos across the borough from November 29 to December 1, with Tesco topping up donations by a further 20 per cent.

Last year, 3.34 million meals were collected.

Volunteers are also needed to hand out shopping lists to customers, so they can see what food is needed in their area.

CEO of Tesco UK, Jason Tarry, said: “Together we can make a real difference this Christmas. Our customers have been incredibly generous in recent years and with the help of volunteers we hope to collect even more this year to support those who really need it.”

Volunteers collect an average of 600 meals per three-hour shift. To sign up, visit fareshare.org.uk/get-involved/tesco-food-collection or trusselltrust.org/get-involved/tesco-food-collection/volunteer.
