Trio jailed for Westfield Stratford beating which sent victim into surgery

Three men have been jailed for assaulting a man in a shopping centre.

The victim, who is in his 20s, needed extensive surgery after suffering serious injuries to one of his hands during a beating in Westfield Stratford City on February 28 last year.

At Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, Troy Chooyin, 21 – of Becontree Avenue in Dagenham – was jailed for four and a half years after admitting grievous bodily harm and possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.

Leyton-based duo Shaquille Mathurin, 22, of Magnolia Close and Jason Boateng, 20, of Pine Close were also jailed – both for two years – after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm.
