This week we welcomed West Ham MP Lyn Brown to the Christmas 100 Club.

Forget treehouses or sports, this club sees individuals and businesses donate £100 to the Christmas Toy Appeal.

The Labour MP signed a cheque for £100 to Canning Town charity Community Links, every penny of which will help support youngsters who would not otherwise receive a Christmas present.

Ms Brown has long been a supporter of the Toy Appeal, said co-founder Kevin Jenkins.

“It’s going to be very difficult for many families this Christmas so I am very grateful to Community Links for continuing this Christmas Toy appeal,” she said in 2015.

“It would be wonderful if readers who can afford it consider buying an extra toy or make a donation to children who may otherwise be let down by Santa Claus.”

If you want to support this year’s appeal, you can donate toys at the drop-off points listed here.
